EP Infrastructure, a.s. (EPIF) announces the sale of its approximately 95.62% share in Budapesti Erőmű Zrt. (BERT) held through EP Energy (EPE) since 2015 to Veolia group. The transaction still needs to be approved by the competition authority and certain technical conditions need to be met.
Gary Mazzotti, Vice Chairman of the EPIF’s Board of Directors stated: “We would like to thank all management and staff of BERT for their many successes whilst within the EPIF Group and are confident in the future for management and staff under its new ownership.“
BERT is the largest heat producer in Budapest. The company, owning three gas cogeneration sources (with an output of 1,402 MWt / 396 MWe), is covering 56% of the heat consumption of FÖTÁV Zrt., a municipal district heating network operator owned by the city of Budapest.
The sole shareholder in EPE is EPIF group, 69% of which is owned by Energetický a průmyslový holding, a.s. (EPH) and 31% by a consortium of global institutional investors managed by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA).
