Elektrárny Opatovice (EOP)
supplies heat to more than 62,000 households in the Hradec Králové – Pardubice – Chrudim area and also for several hundred organisations such as industrial enterprises and administrative, commercial, sport, health and cultural facilities. EOP’s heat supply system is comprised of approximately 320 km of heat networks.
Prices charged by EOP are among the most favourable in the Czech Republic, making steady supply of heat affordable for customers in Hradec Králové, Pardubice, Chrudim and other towns and villages.
EOP operates 6 units with a total installed heat capacity of 927 MWth and a total installed electrical capacity of 378 MWe that supply altogether more than 1 TWh of electricity and 3 PJ of heat annually. The power station also has the capacity to supply balancing power, which helps to balance supply and demand in the Czech electricity grid, and it is also able to operate in island mode and continue providing power to a specified area in case of collapse of the entire electricity grid.

Plzeňská teplárenská
is the largest company in the Pilsen region engaged in the production of heat and electricity. The company also operates an adjacent district heating network of 263 km, through which it distributes heat to more than 55,000 households in Pilsen. It also supplies heat, cooling, drinking and service water and compressed air to commercial and institutional customers. Based on a long-term contract with the Czech transmission system operator, PLTEP provides certified ancillary services and helps balance electricity supply and demand.
The company runs three cogeneration heating plants including a waste-to-energy plant with a total installed heat capacity of 525 MWth and a total installed
electrical capacity of 274 MWe. As a primary fuel for heat and power generation, lignite, biomass and municipal waste are used. Share of biomass has been gradually increased, mainly after refurbishment of the K6 fluid boiler, where biomass is co-combusted with lignite

United Energy
is an important heat producer in the North Bohemia region. It supplies almost 1.5 PJ of heat to more than 34,000 households in Most and Litvínov, and also to industrial enterprises, schools, health facilities, offices and various institutions. Part of the thermal energy is sold to the networks of third-party heat distributors. The length of UE’s heat distribution network, owned by its subsidiary Severočeská teplárenská, totals 150 km of distribution pipes.
UE operates the Komořany CHP plant near Most with an installed heat capacity of 487 MWth and electrical capacity of 239 MWe, producing heat and power in a highly efficient cogeneration mode, while meeting all environmental and public health regulations. Lignite as the primary fuel is complemented by biomass which is combusted in a former lignite boiler refurbished to enable 100% biomass combustion.
